Wow, OMG, WTF?! There are really, truly no words to describe this institution. I'm not even sure I can at this point... Is Ocean Annies a swinger's bar, AARP conference or meet market? Whatever it is, it blew my f'n mind. To begin, they only serve Natural Light. Really??? Of all the cheap, garbage beer to serve, you chose Natty Light? Well done sir. Can I get a High Life intervention? Perhaps the Coors Light cold train? Anything, please! UPDATE: They stopped serving Natty Light in February. This could be a game changer... Aside from the wide array of beer served here, they do make a decent cocktail. The lady friend didn't seem to mind her "Annies Lemonade" as I buried my grief in watered down goodness. Live music was decent. Lot's of elderly disasters to observe. I don't think you would have a true Myrtle Beach experience if you didn't go here.

***Good news people, they now have Jimmy Buffets Landshark Beer on draft outside....... Wow, cant believe there were no reviews for this place. Gosh where do I start? If you are a people watcher this is the place for you. Age range is anywhere from 25 to 85. Live music everyday from 1pm-11pm. Located at Sands Ocean Club. This bar is one of the main reasons people even stay at this hotel. Beer selection is Natural Light Draft, but you can go to the indoor bar and buy a beer and bring it out. Pitchers of any kind of drink. The bar is on the beach. Stage for shaggers. I always thought young horny people were bad but you've got to watch the frisky seniors. WOW. I love it. I go every year and I can sit here for hours just watching it all. I've met a lot of nice, fun people here and everyone seems to come the same time every year so you really become friends. All I can say is be ready to come back year after year, this place just kinda sucks you in..

Cool spot....right on the beach and they only serve drinks...so yes I tried several. They serve pitchers of everything and anything.

I've heard about Ocean Annie's for several years, but we never ventured there. We never ventured to the "in between zone" of North Myrtle and Myrtle. This year, we made a special trip. We went on a Monday night. You have to walk through the pool area of the hotel to get there. Parking is $2.50 for 2 hours (I think). The drink menu was exactly what I like. Tropical drinks! Yum! I had a Miami Vice (frozen) and then a few Cherry Limeades. They were on the smaller side (small, clear plastic cups). My husband had a few beers (draft only-again small, clear plastic cups). The band was good, and by dark the place was packed. Definitely ocean front and an AMAZING view. Oh yeah, Brock from Myrtle Manor works here, he was bartending and was super friendly. He even took a picture with me when I asked! The bill at the end of the night was expensive. When we go out for drinks, we usually have an appetizer too, but we had no food here and the bill was well over our regular. Think $60 for 4 drinks and 5 small draft beers. That's our only negative, other than the price it was a fun experience.

DON'T DO IT. Giving 2 stars because I'm not a complete jerk and this is from a one time experience. HOWEVER, being that this is a touristy area the first impression really matters. I don't mind dives. In fact, I enjoy them. However, this is just a hot mess. It is in a very run down hotel (seriously- the whole area looks like a hurricane hit a year earlier and they are still rebuilding. I'm from FL. This reference makes sense. BUT THERE WAS NO RECENT HURRICANE) There is a tiki bar outside. Don't mind having to walk through the bizarrely "rustic Italian" decorated lobby and the changing rooms. Walk past the extremely small and dirty lazy pool. You are finally there! The service was horrible. They didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in (not busy). But the reason for 2 stars? THERE WAS PUKE on a table. Someone had too many tropical drinks and lost it. I'm fairly certain this happens often in myrtle beach. The disturbing thing? We sat there for at least 25 min before anyone cleaned it up. It was very obvious that the waitresses thought it wasn't their job and the bartender didn't want to do it. Once they did clean it- they just threw a giant bucket of chemicals and water over it. They didn't say anything to us or the other tables. No apology. It was almost like this is the norm. Thanks for the horrid smell, guys! They also left CHUNKS on the ground, "I guess the birds will get it". Sigh. And no one asked if we wanted another drink. This place was just sad. Just because you are on the beach doesn't mean you can give up on costumer service completely.

Ocean Annie's is great for alcohol beachside. That's honestly it. It's really loud, both during the day and at night. I wouldn't drive here, I would only come here if you could walk from wherever you were staying. It's not fancy. Most people sit in swim attire or coverups. They have plastic chairs and tables on an old wooden deck right by the beach. There is only a very small portion that is covered, so if it's raining, tough luck. There is no food so you will need to bring your own or run to Riverside Cafe for a takeout burger or sandwich. The band plays mostly classic rock covers. The liquor drinks are watered down and can run you up a sizeable tab if you keep coming for more. Frozen drinks are way too sweet. Beer options are limited. It's the best for groups, just get a pitcher and relax. But I definitely would not make a long journey just to come here.

I visited this place a couple times during my July 4th vacation. It's a charming place on the beach, close to where I was staying. I was there in the afternoon and again in the evening. It was always a "Party on The Beach"! It was always busy and everyone was having a great time. The bartender, Tom (I think), made me this special pineappley drink that was just awesome! That drink became the drink of my vacation...Sooo good! Everyone I met there were smiling and very friendly. The cost wasn't as high as I expected. When I go back to Myrtle Beach, I'll definitely go here again.

I'm not sure what other people are talking about...service has always been amazing at this beach bar (especially since they usually only have 3-4 servers at peak hours). The drinks are fabulous (24.00 for a pitcher of boozy punch). I think for a beach bar, this is the best you can do.

My girlyfriends and I went to MB three years in a row back in the early 90's. We loved that place! I haven't been back since so I don't know what it's like now but back then it was a late afternoon hang out. A meet market? Yep. However, we were the bells of the ball cuz in the spring MB was filled with golfers. I can't party like that now but I would love to go back and check it out.

Warning - did not eat here. If you want a great place for drinks and live music during the day - awesome stop!

Drinks are ok. Prices are fair. But man did service suck. We ordered waters while we decided what we wanted so I guess she thought we weren't going to be a tipping table so she literally never returned until she saw us with a pitcher of drinks we ordered from the bar. Needless to say she didn't get any tip.

Boooring ! Now 6 weeks this summer They got rid of the Beachcombers (band) and replaced with and o.k. band......but...not a good choice for a red neck beach bar. Music now starts at 2 p.m. (used to start earlier) I liked the band....however..on this day anyway....no lead guitar....ummm....ya gotta have a lead guitar at a beach bar (maybe he was absent). Now...this band would be awsome in a lounge on a cruise ship....easy going motown type music....i thought good musicians. ....however....the genius that dumped the beachcombers for these guys is probably looking for a job ! While the beachcombers are not going to open for the rolling stones.....never-the-less....they did a darn good job...and seemed to know the crowd and adjust the music accordingly. This place just seems to have lost its mojo....and perhaps there were signs of that last season...thus the change in bands... still fun....significantly less energy....better at night

Can you say FUN?!!! Yes, Ocean Annie's is the fun spot of Shore Drive. When in Myrtle Beach, be sure to drop by for a drink and music! The live band will get your day or night off to a great start. Always welcoming and right on the !

Pitchers, beer, live music and it is beachfront. This is a great place to unwind and feel the breeze on your skin. They even have a casual worship service at 9am each Sunday on the deck. This place is a must see. You will love it and return often!

What a fun place to hang out! Always a good time. It's definitely a place to visit in the afternoon

This place is always really packed in the summertime. The live music and free flowing booze makes it fun. One problem for beer drinkers though - they only sell one kind of beer and it's Natural Lite (yuck). If you drink cocktails or liquor drinks you will have a blast. Don't forget the sunscreen!

Oh Annie's.....I love you, but if you play Margaritaville one more time I'm going to freak out. This place has been here for ages and it shows. The hotel should really think about upgrading it a little. Drinks are a little pricey and watered down but its a fun place to people watch and dance at night.

The characters at this place are interesting to watch...im 25 and not a fan of country or rock...but the adults that rock out are hilarious!! It was about 1 pm with the sun shinning...i went to find a table with an umbrella but all of them were taken or said reserved on them!! out of the 25 tables...only like 7 had umbrellas... was not a fan of that... They don't serve food...and the pitcher of Annie's slam was ok...didn't taste any alcohol...the waitress took awhile to get to us when they weren't busy at all... They did get busy at about 3pm. So it is a popular place... if you are over 30 try it...but under 30 skip this place!

The girlfriend and I (both in our early 50s) stumbled onto this oasis while taking a long walk on the beach Sunday afternoon. It seems almost out-of-place, since there are no other bars when walking the mile or so from the southern end of the beach. For us, it was ideally situated because we both needed a drink and a bathroom ...not necessarily in that order. We were hoping to make it to the pier a quarter mile further down the beach when we heard live music coming from Ocean Annie's. It was almost like a mirage. Here was a nice, open bar, with plenty of seating, good music, (mostly) attractive people in swimsuits, and almost no wait at the bar. Oh, and they have bathrooms too! We weren't sure where we were, but we liked it! There was even outdoor showers as you enter the bar from the beach, so you can rinse your entire body or just your feet. Nice! As many reviewers have mentioned, the beer selection is very limited -- Natural Light ($3.75) and LandShark ($5.25) -- so many people seemed to be drinking fruity cocktails. Not sure of the pricing, but a number of folks were ordering entire pitchers. Tall cups of ice water are free (though be sure to tip). There's also a big water-dispensing thermos on the pool side of the bar. (The bar is located next to a hotel, which is nice because you can use some of the hotel's amenities.) The people watching at Ocean Annie's is great, though it's mostly middle-aged people in swimsuits. On the Sunday afternoon we were there, the age demographic appeared to be mostly 30s-50s... with some 20s and some 60s thrown in. You'll see quite a few tattoos. Don't know the name of the band (four middle-age white guys), but they did a pretty commendable job of playing popular tunes mostly from 60s-80s. There appeared to be three different decks at the bar. The main deck is where the band performs. There are two smaller decks -- one on top of the other -- located furthest from the stage. All the decks have tables & chairs, and several of the tables have umbrellas (but not all). Almost anywhere you sit, you have a great view of the beach! We only stayed about an hour (1:30-2:30) and left when the band took a break, but we will definitely go back the next time we're in North Myrtle Beach. If you're a beach-walker, it makes for a nice, novel destination. And they have bathrooms!

After hearing such great reviews about this place we decided to try it out for happy hour before dinner. I think we may have actually spent more time looking for parking that we did at the restaurant itself. It is definitely a place for the local beach goers when they need a break from the sand and sun. The atmosphere seemed very fun and exciting, however. There was a live band and lots of people enjoying the drinks and fun. We were very over dressed, however, and were quite possibly the only people not in our bathing suits and cover ups in the entire place. This appears to be a great spot to go if you are coming right off the beach or in the area, but not so much for those actually looking for a night out. Maybe in a different time of day the atmosphere changes, but as off happy hour the attire was mainly bathing suits.

My husband & I walked down the beach from our condo after dinner one evening, & as other reviews stated beer choices are only 2, but people sure were drinking it :-) They will make any of their "shooters" into a drink, & mine was quite tasty. This evening the band was really good, a combo of 80's rock, mixed with some country, & dance. They interacted with the crowd & people were having a great time, yet not out of hand. This whole environment is great for chillin'- you can have a drink, listen to to some music by the ocean... Its worth the stop if you are near this area. Cheers!

Ocean Annie's is a fun place to visit and relax. I am not sure I would make a special trip from other parts of the beach to go there, but if you are staying at the Ocean Sands resort are within walking distance and want to get off the beach for a while and hear some live music outdoors with a beer in hand, then this is your' place. The beer options are limited (Natty Light and Land Shark). They also offer mixed drinks and shooters, but don't seem to put much alcohol in them. They have various bands that play, but my favorite is the Southside band. They play a mix of contemporary and classic rock, also some more pop type music. I am not going to tell a lie, the cocktail waitresses are easy on the eyes here. Some of them have gotten a bit surly in the past when there have been some issues with the charges, but I know their job isn't easy and overall they do hustle and are very friendly and attentive. This is also a prime spot for people watching, especially prowling cougars. If you are looking to reel in a cougar-fish this is your' jam for sure. Ocean Annie's is definitely a big part of the MB "experience"!

This place was great, as soon as we sit down somebody takes our order. They don't sell food here but right next door is a Reasturant . The bar is right off the beach . They have live music , great atmosphere . No kids allowed on the bar deck area which is great . We stayed for about an hour because there's so much more things to do there .

Loved it! Terrific house band performing a wide variety of music. I'm typically an R & B fan and I loved the sound of the band. Plenty of dancing, well-priced drinks and good good from the restaurant next door. If you order the grouper, share with a friend.
